Episode 6: THE COMMUNICATION STUDIES MAJOR COMMUNICATING WITH POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS

In college I studied communications, so you’d think I would maybe be all right with talking to people or at least understand how it should be done. Wrong. I’m way too shy and wasn’t that into schooling. I finally had my first wedding gig for a wedding where I knew one person. That one person was my sister who I made be my “assistant”. “How do you know the bride?” they all would ask. Followed by me saying, “She cut my hair once and said she was looking for a videographer for her wedding”, so yeah, we’re pretty close. Not. It was a different experience for me because I felt really out of the loop. The other weddings that I’ve done, I knew a large chunk of people there that I could hang out with and the bride was a close enough friend where I could ask them more specific questions on what is needed from me. I guess this was one of those steps in that whole becoming a professional adult thingy. But hey, I got some quality time with my sister who I shared a womb with, so that went well.
