On to the Next Round!
The Bravettes defeated Lynnville-Sully in 3 games in the second round of regionals. This means that they’ll get to move on to the semifinals of the regional tournament.
In the first match, Montezuma got an early lead. At the halfway point it seemed that Lynnville-Sully would come back but it was Montezuma that won the first battle.
25-20
In the second, well, it was less of a battle. Thankfully for the Bravettes.
25-12
In the third, the score remained close but again the Bravettes got the “W”.
25-19
It was a blackout in the student section and the crowd was electric as they supported the home team to another victory. The Bravettes had great communication on the court and their energy seemed to fuel each other and then pass more of that energy to the rest of the home section. They are a quick team that reacts well to the ball movement.
Some individuals to shoutout: Sophomore, Shanae Wetering never disappoints whether shes on or off the court. She’s all in for every play. She absolutely bleeds blue and is so fun to watch. Not only does she bring the energy, but she has got some power at the net! Senior, Shelby Conger ended the night by getting the last kill to help seal the deal for the Bravettes to earn a trip to North Tama. She’s has a great season so far and has become a strong leader on the team.
Next up: Montezuma will travel to Traer to play in the semifinals at North Tama high school on Thursday, October 31st at 7PM. They will play North Tama who is currently ranked #5.
