5 Games, 1 Tournament

Team Huddle at North Tama’s Tournament

Montezuma Bravettes traveled to North Tama for a weekend tournament and may have left with a few losses, but its the lessons learned that are really what is important moving forward.

Starting out against West Central, the Bravettes lost the first match, had some good communication on the court to win the second, but ended up losing the third.

Next up was versus BGM where Montezuma came away with two wins. The second match included a nice comeback battle for victory.

Ashlyn Krousie Powers the Ball Through the Block

North Tama’s matchup was a fight throughout where we were even able to see some dramatic saves to keep the ball alive from some of our state track athletes from last spring. Sophomore, Ashlyn Krousie got in a groove offensively and made some nice attacks at the ball. With all of the excitement though, sadly the Bravettes lost in two matches.

Another player to take note of was senior, Wavy Roorda. She specializes at the net as a setter and displays great ball placement for her teammates.

After a short break, Montezuma went on to the consolation round of play where they got to see the North Tama multipurpose room for a more intimate volleyball experience. For those not in attendance, it was quite small, but the cheers were still mighty for the Bravettes.

Meskwaki was up first where the Bravettes continued to give their all to win in two matches.

Another short break and it was the final game of the day. Montezuma versus North Fayette Valley. The Tiger Hawks won the first match. Next, the Bravettes gained confidence and energy to win the second. But the last match was back to the Tiger Hawks in another close one.

Though today was a bit of a heartbreaker for Montezuma fans, you can‘t deny the chemistry on the court between teammates for the Bravettes. The energy that they give off is contagious when they continue to work together. Each day that they are together, they become a tighter knit group learning and growing towards their goals.

A Team, Both On and Off the Court

Go cheer them on next at BGM on Tuesday, September 10th at 5PM for Junior Varsity or on Thursday, September 12th in Keota at 5:30 for Varsity!

“The challenge of every team is to build a feeling of oneness, of dependence on one another because the question is usually not how well each person performs, but how well they work together.” - Vince Lombardi
